I've taken the ACT 3 times :8th grade, 10th grade, and 11th grade (this month). I got my test back and I got a 35. Should I retake? I'm aiming to go to HPM and I hear scoring outside their range (which all have an upper bound of 35) would greatly help. However, I'm nervous it will look bad to have taken it so many times. How many times is too many? Is it worth the retake for the extra point?

I know Harvard once said that they don’t want applicants to apply more than 3 or 4 times. Make sure you are well-rounded and I think you should be fine.

I thought colleges couldn’t see how many times you took the act, just the sat.

@debate4ever some schools require you to send all of your test scores even if they don’t superscore the ACT.

You can control which ACT score is sent out and you can have the lower scores permanently deleted from your record if you send a letter of request to the ACT organization unless the ACT was taken to satisfy a local or state testing requirement.
