I took the ACT with considerable preparation and got a 33. My score distribution is as follows:
English: 36
Math: 35
Reading: 32
Science: 29
I am fine with a 33 but I am not happy with my science score. I am applying to selective colleges to study science and math. My main problem was attention span: I simply can’t focus for the hours that the ACT requires.
However, I will be taking SAT Physics and Math II. Will the subjects tests make up for my science score, or should I retake the ACT?
Thanks!
Your scores are really good. You can get a lot of scholarships with that score. If you are looking at Ivy league schools, id consider retaking it. But if you are looking at a private or state school, no need to retake it. What really helped me raise my science score was practice tests. Taking practice tests will really really help raise scores by 1 or 2 points. A website i recconmend is chegg.com. They have videos on there for pretty much anything on the ACT. It could really help raise your science score.
Hope this helped!
Take it if you want, but considering you did a good amount of prep I wouldn’t expect it to go up more then 2 points(in the science section). I would maybe take it one more time in the early fall assuming your a junior and call good.
If you are a science major, then retake it. Otherwise, no big deal.
