Should I retake the SAT, just because my essay score wasn't that good?

I took the March 21st school day SAT, and got a score that I’m satisfied with, but my essay was kind of low (6/6/7). I’m planning on applying to really competitive colleges, so I’m aiming for a perfect essay score or at least a 7/7/7… But I also don’t want to look like a test-obsessed freak since my actual score (the one out of 1600) was really good.

Advice?

Move on. The essay score is fine.

Relatively few colleges (28 according to Princeton Review) require the SAT/ACT with essay. Even for those schools that do, I would posit that your writing in your essays would be more closely evaluated than your SAT essay scores. Harvard basically gave this as a reason, although not the only reason for eliminating the need to take the SAT with essay.

Don’t worry aobut the essay score. 19 is fine. It won’t be red flag.
