I have got pretty good scores in CR and Math and have also gotten most of the multiple choice questions of writing right. But I have a pretty low essay score(9).
Will this low essay score hamper my chances in the top-notch colleges?Should I retake the SAT?

Hello there, if anyone could help me plz. I am a international high school senior from Croatia(Europe) that wants to apply to an American college. My last SAT score was 1750(650-Math and the english part was both 550). Now I'm in a dilema. Should I take the SAT II rather then the SAT I again. I think that I could do better on the SAT I, but I do not know how important is the SAT II, and the thinh is that it is almost November, so that doesn't leave to much time for me. Anyone please help me out here.

skunk, a 9 is fine. You probably don't need to retake it, but if you want to spend the time and money to get an essay score from 9 to 12, then go ahead, if you honestly think you can improve such that it's worth retaking.
kajtebolibriga: First, look for what schools you want to go to first, and then see if any of them actually require SAT II test scores. If they don't, you should spend your time on the SAT I. If they need SAT II scores, you should take those, so that you at least have the required test scores.

ok. So I probably wont be retaking the SAT. I honestly dont expect a 12 but I do think I could get at least a 10 or an 11 but apparently, its just not worth it.
Anyways, the testing centres here for the december test date are filled and it seems like most colleges dont accept the January SAT. So what's the point in retaking?
