Should I retake the SAT I?

I'm currently a high school junior and I am contemplating retaking the SAT I in March. I took the December 2013 SAT and my results are:

CR: 670
M: 800
W: 800 - MC: 76 - Essay: 12

I am pursuing Ivy League and 2nd-tier universities, such as UPenn, Brown, Duke, Stanford, etc. with a computer science or engineering major.

Should I retake the exam? I feel like my CR score is too low to give me much of an impression. Thanks!

you have scores kids dream of a lot earlier than you even need. I would stick with them to focus on subject test and getting a higher GPA. but if you are as competitive as I am I would study CR as much as possible and take the test again some point before next december. and you can super score something in the 2300s

Since this was your first time taking, there is no harm in retaking. You should definitely be able to bring up CR to 700+.

Take it again! Who knows; maybe you can get a perfect in CR too.

Should I be worried about (significantly) lower scores in the other two sections? Do colleges like to look at composite scores just as much as individual section scores? I’m not sure my writing mechanics, the essay especially, would merit me another high score.

A few universities I plan to apply to don’t superscore.

I would take it again if I were you. I don’t think colleges would mind if your writing/math dropped as long as they don’t go below 700.
