I’ve taken the SAT three times, with my highest score as a 1700. There was a screw up when I took the June SAT, so the October one is free. The thing is, I don’t really like taking or preparing for the SAT. I’ve already taken the ACT and made a 29, which I will likely submit to colleges starting in August.
My dream school takes either tests, and since I want to apply ASAP I will submit the ACT. My other choices look at both scores, but I feel most confident in my ACT scores. As an incoming senior, should I take the SAT in October or not bother wasting my time?
a 29 is approximately a 1920 so ACT is the way to go for you. Also the SAT only super scores three of your test at once so your super score will most likely not reach a 1920. I would take the ACT again and try to break a 30. Good luck!
Definitely don’t waste your time. Most people prefer/do better on either the ACT or SAT, since they are very different exams, and you’ve already done better on the ACT than you would do on the SAT if you retook it without hours and hours of unnecessary prep. I agree with jaksbdnpk in that you should look into breaking the 30’s with the ACT if you are able to retake any test.
Thanks! I kinda don’t want to take the SAT again, even though it’s free I don’t know if I should take the ACT again, since applications open August 1st and I’ve already sent my scores to some of the colleges I’m applying to.
Don’t bother retaking the SAT, there’s no need to take it four times. If you are happy with your ACT score, and your universities accept it, simply submit that.
That’s the thing…my dream school (A&M) takes one or the other, but other schools (like Texas Tech) require both
NO school requires both. Some highly competitive schools require you to send both in if you’ve taken both. Texas Tech is not one of those schools.
