I got my new sat scores, 1510( 800M, 710R), at first i thought that anything above 1500 would be competitive enough for top schools( Cornell arts and sciences in particular), but looking at the concordance tables, i have doubts about my chances.
Test scores are really secondary to fit at the given school. This is especially true at Cornell, primarily due to the seven undergraduate colleges. I’d say your score is fine, but that’s really dependent upon the other ways you can show that you belong at whatever school you’re applying to. That being said, which undergraduate college are you applying to at Cornell?
1510 is perfectly fine. An applicant that gets rejected from a school with a 1500+ didn’t get rejected because of his/her SAT. The rest of the application is 80% of the work.
If YOU feel uncomfortable, retake it. I do not think Cornell cares either way. After all, your GPA is more important to them than the SAT I.
In my opinion, getting a higher score would probably help but there are many better ways of spending your time. You can get better grades in your classes, participate in extracurricular activities that truly matter to you, get good teacher recommendations (maybe spend some time after school to help them :> ) or start crafting good essays and organizing your high school experience into an application worthy of where you want to go.
I was accepted to Cornell with a 2260 old SAT score (~1550 on the new one). My friend had a 2350 on the old scale (~1590 on the new one), and he was not accepted. After a certain point, your SAT score in no way becomes a deciding factor.
i would be applying to college of arts and sciences at Cornell, are these scores enough for getting in
According to stats for the Cornell Class of 2019, anything between 1330 (25th percentile) and 1530 (75th percentile) is considered decent by Cornell admissions committees. At this point, your SAT scores should not be the part of your application you are most worried about.
