Should I retake my SAT to apply to Cornell?

I considered putting this on the SAT page, but since I’m applying to Cornell for Fall 2016, I decided to post it here.

I only got a 1860 when I took the SATs my junior year. I’m in at a CC right now (first year) and want to have the best chances of getting accepted as a transfer student. I took a practice test a while ago without studying and got a 2100. I know that’s still low, but if I study I’m sure I can improve it by 100-150 points. I talked to my academic advisor and she said not to retake them since they’re given to show how well you’ll do in college and I’m already in college with a 4.0. But I know Cornell will still see my score when I send it in and I don’t want that low score to count against me. Is it worth it to retake the SAT?

The higher, the better bro

are you in a CC that has guaranteed acceptance to Cornell?

I would retake the SAT and also consider taking the ACT. The ACT measures what you actually know, and I feel like the SAT is revolved around strategies. I did better on the ACT with half the effort I studied for the SAT.

Now that you are in college, what matters is performance. Take tough classes and get straight A grades. Build a close relationship with faculty members so they can write recs that show they know you well.
