I took the SAT in December and got a 1490, retook in May and got a 1540 (770 each). Should I take it a third time? In May I was right in the middle of AP exams and didn’t study as much as I could have, but I don’t know if it’s worth it to try again. For reference, I got a 1500/1520 on the PSAT without and prep at all and have an UW 4.0, W 4.4 and live in a highly competitive area. If I do take it again it would most likely be in September. Also, should I take the ACT? This would also have to be in September.
I also got 8/7/8 on the essay so I don’t think I would redo the essay portion.

not necessary - your stats will not disqualify you to be considered at any school. Do you need SAT Subject tests for applying at very selective colleges? If so, take those instead of a 3rd SAT.
You don’t need to take it again. With a 1540 any college in the country would consider you. Your gpa is also excellent. You should focus on having superb extracurriculars, and studying for sat subject tests.
