Should I retake?

I've taken the SAT twice, once in November and once in March. Superscored I have a 2250, with 720 CR, 770 M, and 760 W.

I have AP Exams in May and Subject Tests in June to worry about. However, I got an 80 in CR for the PSAT so I know I can probably boost my score way up if I take it again.

I have pretty good ECs, a 95.6 GPA, but I'm no extraordinary national award-winning scholar. Do I need the added benefit of near-perfect SAT scores to have a good shot at my top schools like MIT and Caltech and Brown? I guess what I'm asking is, would it be worth my time to retake for those schools?

Maybe. Ask a college counselor at your school.

My daughter is on the same boat with similar score and I know she could do better than that based on her practice scores. However, I will not urge her to retake it in June (or May). I’ll consider the third attempt to be a final attempt. We are waiting for the ACT scores right now. If that turns out to match her expectation, we probably will forget about the SAT. One should focus on the AP and subject tests at this point, so there is not much time to prepare for another SAT I test before Summer break. If necessary, she may try it once more in Fall.
