Should I retake the SAT

When I took the SAT I got 790M 720V 600W. I want to know if my awful writing score makes it so that I should retake it. I am applying and engineering schools so I don't know how much attention they pay to the W.

I HATE the multiple choice part of the Writing.

I think you should retake it, personally.

I would normally say no, but the W section is the easiest portion of the 3-part exam to see results in, especially the multiple choice section.

Just practice, practice, and practice though. Don't go in it blind.

I have faith in you.

There is a huge discrepancy between your M,V and your W score. So you should retake the SAT.

Definitely retake it. The writing score is the easiest to raise, all you have to do is take alot of practice tests.

From what I hear, engineering schools don't care about writing, and a lot of colleges aren't really paying that much attention to the writing score yet anyway. If you write solid application essays, that should erase any concerns they have about whether you can write. Do you get As in English?

I would call the schools and ask. When I talked to an admissions counselor at JMU last year, they said they recorded the data for the writing score but ignored it when reviewing apps. They're waiting to see if there's any correlation between a writing score and performance in writing-based classes, I guess. Dunno if they're doing that this year, but if one school was honest about it, others probably will be too.
