Should I retake the US History subject test, even though I scored 720?

First off, yeah I know this is a good score and I don't want to sound like some of those kids that have 4.3s and 2100s, but think they are average.

I am very pleased with this score, but I felt that I could have scored 20-40 points higher (I didn't study that much for this test). I am already pretty prepared for the test because of AP testing and because my AP US final was last week. The reason I am considering taking it again is because I will only have a 3.8 W and my SAT reasoning is only 1800 (plan to take again in Oct and hopefully score 1950+). Also, I am taking Math II, but I feel that I am going to struggle to score a 600 in June because I am only in Alg II/Trig Accelerated and we haven't covered a lot of the stuff on that test (plan to take Math II again in Nov or Dec and score above 650+). I desprately need strong test scores to boost my chances at some of the schools I am considering (Notre Dame, Texas, UNC, UCLA, Georgia, other state schools), so maybe scoring a 750 or 760 would help me out just a little bit more.

So, should I even bother to take the US test again and try for a 750 or 760??????

b u m p…

Depends where you want to go and what your major will be.
If you want to go to a school where a 720 is above average or average its fine, but if you want to be a poly sci major, international studies major or history major, I recommend retaking. Its 82nd percentile in the nation so not bad at all.

Frankly, I’d worry more on that SAT score…
