Hi, I'm a rising senior and unsure of whether I should retake my standardized tests. These are my scores so far:

SAT: 2230 (March of junior year)
CR: 760
M: 670
W: 800 (11 on essay)

ACT: 31 (end of sophomore year)
English: 35 (12 on essay)
Math: 30
Reading: 32
Science: 28

SAT IIs:
US History: 800
Bio E: 760
Math II: 740

Should I retake the ACT or any of my subject tests? I am applying to several schools that will require my entire testing history and I'm afraid that 31 will negatively impact me. Math has never been my strong suit and I'm afraid that even though my Math II is much higher than my SAT math that its comparatively low percentile score for top schools will also negatively impact me. Bio I can probably score at least 20 points higher if not make an 800. Is it worth it to take tests again for these schools?

Retake only if you feel like you can do better. Those scores are fine.

I would retake at least the ACT. You might do much better second time around, which could be helpful at some schools. From what our kids said, it’s worth some attention to learn the “tricks” of getting through the science section quickly.

Personally, I wouldn’t retake them because those are all good scores but hey it’s up to you.

Your SAT Math is a little bit weak. Your subject score is fine. Whether to retake would depends on which schools you are going to apply. These scores are fine for most schools except for the few top of the tops.

Although your SAT math score isn’t super high (like billcsho pointed out), I wouldn’t retake the test. I wouldn’t risk losing an 800 writing and a high CR score. I find it hard to believe that a school would require you to send both your SAT and ACT scores, but if that’s the case, then I would retake the ACT. I wouldn’t retake the SAT II’s if I were you.

You can if you want but I don’t think that it will make a huge difference. I think the time is better spent on ECs. If you are going to retake I would say that you really only have to study for math on the SAT and math and science on ACT. Sat IIs are fine.
