I haven't been on CC a lot so I guess I'm not "in the know" about all of this.

Should I retake the SAT with a 2310?

800 math
750 reading
760 writing

The best you can get is a 2400! 2310 is awesome! I would not go through the torture of another 4 hour test if I were you.

H*** no. Your scores are exemplary. Retaking IMHO would be a waste of $60 and 5 hours.

Consider yourself done with SAT.

You mock everyone with less than 2300 if you retake. (So don't, and congrats on an awesome score!)

Your score is amazing, and I don't think you should retake.

Yeah, I agree. Don't retake. Convince yourself that a couple of points here and there aren't going to matter, and that it's all luck. That's what I did. (2330)

i hate you why would you take that again

alright thanks

Sorry that I'm kidnapping your thread, but I have the same question and a new thread seamed semi-pointless.

I got a 2300 in April (my 1st time). 800CR 700M 800W. Usually, I consider math my strongest subject, and I was hoping to apply to schools such as Caltech, Harvey Mudd, etc. I was mildly dissapointed with the 700 and I don't feel that it represents my mathematical ability. Also, it places me at the bottom of the application pools at these schools math-wise. Any opinions?

SAT scores alone can't do that. Besides, you still have time and only 1 section you can possibly improve--congrats.

^So that's a no?

I'm going to go against what everyone else says.... I think whether or not you should retake depends on whether or not you think you can do better... Obviously, there's no room for improvement in the math. If your afraid that you might score lower on a retesting, just remember that most colleges mix and match your individual scores. Essentially, you have that 800 permanently. Both of your other scores are very good too, but if you think you can improve them, then go for it....What do you have to lose?

Yeah def. retake. Go for the 2400. No college in their right mind would ever take you if you didn't ace your SATs. What are you thinking? Now go study! And remember - more then 4hrs of sleep for a teenager is a luxury. Spend that time reviewing vocab. I also suggest listening to recorded math formulas while you are sleeping - you want to keep that 800 next test (Dont listen to this composite BS, no colleges do that, its all a trick). Now what you want to do for writing is pick up a newspaper, or a novel, and begin correcting it. "But novels dont have any errors!" - WRONG! I found 15 errors on the first page of Harry Potter, 7 in LotR, and 4 in the Da Vinci Code. Is it any wonder i got 800 nine times in a row on the SATs? For the essay what you need to do is consider every single topic possible. Everytime you look at something - think of how you can write an essay about it. "Dude wana hang out?' - write an essay about your friend's question. Now for CR. The trick is reading as much as you can. Since you are going to be awake for 20 hrs i suggest reading for at least 16 of them. A good pace is 2-4 novels a day ranging around 300-600 pages each. And everytime you read a sentence think about an essay you can write about each sentence. See that? Multitasking - have to be one step ahead of the game! For vocab - as mentioned earlier you should review vocab right before you go to sleep. I recommend maybe 200 words a day at the least - you want to make sure you know every single word in Barron's "Dictonary of Everything You Need to Know, Want to Know, Thought About Knowing... And Some More Random Words Just for Fun." - also known as DoEYNtKWtKTAKASMRWJfF. I also personally recommend "The Most Commonly Spoken Spanish Words in America." - because you never know. For now this is all i can offer you. Good Luck and Godspeed.

Grats on your score =) Get some sleep.

^=best post ever.

^ So hilarious!

Yea, I have the exact same question, cept Im in a different situation. I took the sats once in jan (710M, 670CR, 650W) and just got my scores from april (660M, 690CR, 620W). Should I take the sats again for a THIRD time in oct? Im probably going to apply to Upenn CAS ED. My counselor said that a 1400 m+v, and a 650w is in the range of what upenn wants, but Im still insecure about the rest of my app. I'll probably take a prep course over the summer, considering that writing is what im aiming to improve, should I take it again? I know some colleges dont look at writing. Btw, I didnt study inbetween the tests which is probably why I dropped so much.
thanks

Actually Parian, many colleges DO mix and match SAT scores.... I don't what sources you've been looking at, but yeah, they do.....(A few colleges even mix ACT scores, but that is pretty rare). It only makes sense that colleges would mix and match; they want to make it seem like they have really high scorers going to their school. It adds to the prestige of the school.... But you are right when you say he has a great score; his score, whether or not he decides to retake, is quite excellent.

It was a joke post. I know he has a great score.

Oh....I knew that most of your post was.... I wasn't sure you meant that part to be a joke though....
