Should I self-study AP Stats next year?

I'm a freshman taking Algebra II Trig, so I am capable of advanced math. Next year, I want to take the AP Stats test as a sophomore simultaneously with Pre-Calculus.

I can only take one AP class as a sophomore in my school - AP Government/Politics. In 11th and 12th grade, I will take IB classes and get my IB dimploma. However, I want to take as many AP classes that I can handle.

I've heard self-studying AP stat is one of the easier AP classes.

Should I go for it and self study next year?

Also, next semester (I'm on block) I can take either Earth Science or Physics. Earth Science is a joke, everyone gets A's and all 9th graders take it. However, my school is giving me permission to take Advanced Physics (A 12th grade class) as a freshman instead. Is it hard? The teacher is not that great either. Should I go for it, or get the easy A in Earth Science?

bump…

Oh and do colleges care if you self study? Or is it just the credit that matters?

It just seems to me that Earth Science was pointless and not challenging. I took a practice state standardized test on it and could pass it. It’s pretty basic stuff, but I’m not sure if I should take a challenging class if it will affect my grade.
