I wrote this very, very good musical analysis for music theory class, comparing the musical styles of Western music to Eastern music. A professor looked at it and said it was very, very high level for a high school student. So I thought I should send in the musical analysis. However, since I am sending in a musical analysis, I started to think about sending in a music supplement. With recording and a teacher recommendation.

However, though I am very good on the piano, I am not state-competive level. If I were to send in two pieces, it would be Fur Elise and the First Movement of one of Mozart's Sonatas. I do know I can get a beautiful recommendation from my piano teacher because she really loves me. So guys, should I send in the full music supplement or not?

Sure it won’t hurt, and might help. Just be sure to follow the directions for musical supp. (due dates used to be different for supplements, and it used to be sent to music dept directly - I’m not sure if this is still the case).
I am not sure there is a place for musical analysis paper on Stanford app though. They do not accept additional materials in general.

They are very clear about not accepting any additional application materials, so I am not sure there is much of a point emailing them, but you can try.

Just FYI: If you do want to send in a musical supplement you have to get your application in earlier. The deadline for early action already passed (Oct 15th) and the due date for a regular application with a music supplement is December 1st.

Are you an REA? If you are, it’d be best to include mention in “Additional Info” and fax your analysis to them.

If you’re not an REA, maybe not necessarily piano supp. because (trust me, I live-auditioned) the level of the audition were BEYOND stellar…like all internationally-recognized-amazing. But isn’t there a “misc” music supplement? I definitely think it’d be a good addition to your application. If all fails, email Ms. Elise Fujimoto at elisef@stanford.edu she’s really kind and helpful!

Actually, I’d email Ms. Fujimoto before doing anything else. She’d gladly help you out with this! I sent her a ton of emails just for the live audition process, which she gladly lent me a helping hand—email her today!

Thank you so much for the info nerdess. I will email her right away.

Can you explain what the “misc” music supplement is? I am not REA, and I am really just looking for something to send in to show my passion for the piano, even though I am not the best player.
