Alright if anyone can answer here I would appreciate it. Here are my three scores-
October- 33 C (36 E, 35 M, 32 R, 29 S)
December- 32 C (35 E, 30 M, 31 R, 31 S)
February- 33 C (35 E, 35 M, 33 R, 30 S)
Would you guys recommend sending all of those scores to college since each one has a category that is better than the other two? And since I got a 35 on two math sections and a 30 on one, sending December wouldn’t look too much worse right (since they’ll probably think that was more of a fluke since I got 35 on the other two)?
I’m also kind of mad that I was one point from a 34 considering that’s 75 percentile for Northwestern but it’s all good.
Note- I will be taking the test one final time in April but that will be it. Hoping for a 34 composite
Send the October and February scores. They superscore to a 34. Taking it a fourth time seems a little desperate. Remember, you may have to send some colleges your whole test history.
I do not think you should take the test again in April. Even if you get 34, at this point it’s not going to prove anything, as you have a superscore of 34. It’s going to look desperate. There is a point of diminishing returns, and I think you have reached it.
Only if they superscore, which many colleges do not. Northwestern, which the OP specifically mentioned, does not superscore ACT.
Anyway, assuming the college does not require all scores, just send the February score; no need to waste the money to send more. Nor would I retake the test in April.
Alright so I already signed up for April. The reason why I’m taking it once more is because I was literally one question from a 34 in February, and I never really prepped THAT much between tests so I feel like I can get a 34. And since that would be above average for Northwestern, I feel as if it actually is worth it.
Additionally, after I took December my GC told me to send both of my first two cause science was better in December. That is why I’m leaning towards sending all three (unless I do better in April, which I hope I do). I guess I just posted here for more opinions but it seems to be differing from what my GC told me.
Also- do you know which schools require my entire test history? Do any of the following- Northwestern, Michigan, UNC, USC, Michigan State, Missouri (those aren’t all that I’m applying to and I may not even apply to all of those, but those are schools I have in mind).
@skieurope Ok thanks! So let’s say I do not do better in April. Right now, disregarding cost, would it be beneficial or harmful to send all three scores? Does it make me look “desperate” as @Lindagaf put it? Does the 30 math hurt me despite two 35’s on the other tests?
Also, my major is Journalism/English, so I feel like sending October and February is a must considering October has the 36 English and February has the 33 Reading. The question is whether sending December would be worth it.
She did not say that; she said that taking it a 4th time looks desperate. Personally, I would not have said that, but I do think it’s a waste of time. However, you’ve decided, so be it.
As for as sending scores, sending more than required would neither help nor harm you, IMO.
Ok, I was just wondering if you guys knew. I’ll obviously check the websites before applying @Lindagaf
And with regards to taking the test multiple times, I was originally going to stop after three because I didn’t want to be one of those people who continuously takes the ACT. However at this point, I’m so close to a 34 that I’ll just try one final time.
My original GPA wasn’t even a 34, so it’s not like I’m desoarate to get that score. But if I was literally one question away without prepping that much, and I’ve shown I can get the subscores needed for a 34, why not try one last time?
