Should I Send an Update to Colleges (Making Varsity Team)

Hi Everyone! I am a second-semester senior, and I have gotten 3 acceptances so far, but the schools I am still waiting on are all reaches: UVA, Wake, Emory, and UMich. I have relatively strong ECs (mostly service-related), and I was JV captain of my sports team for freshman and sophomore years. I also played JV softball (not my main sport- I actually had never played) junior year, but I didn’t make a varsity team until this year.

Can I update my colleges about making varsity? I don’t want to annoy the admissions officers; I am sure they have enough work to do already, but could this be deemed important? Given that I applied to these schools in November, could an update be helpful?

I’m mostly replying because you haven’t gotten a reply yet – I have no special expertise. I don’t think making varsity matters in terms of admissions. Your athletics already ticks an EC box. If you aren’t an athletic recruit the level at which you play isn’t that important (it’s the time/leadership involved, not skill level, that matters imho).
