Should I send auditions

Hi, I am a high school senior almost ready to send off my applications. The one problem is that I dont want to apply as a music major or drama major. Im really undecided in what I want to do. But I still want to act in plays and play in bands at college, so should I send an audition tape regardless?

If you think your tapes show that you have talent and or accomplishments and the schools you’re applying to allow you to attach additional materials, yes. But most non-arts schools won’t have arts faculty reviewing each application so it won’t necessarily help your app. It kind of depends on the school. I wouldn’t send in recording regardless if “additional materials” aren’t permitted.

A few things to consider::
–If you have music and acting on your application already there is no need to send a supplement to confirm what you have done.
–If you want to send a supplement look on the website of each college and see if they take an arts supplement and if so what form and what length is acceptable.

–Keep in mind that an arts supplement should be of a very high quality (conservatory level or near that) in order to help an application.

–Don’t think you can use the application as an audition for a spot in the orchestra or in a play. You are applying for the sole purpose of getting accepted into the college.
