Are extra materials considered? To what extent?

There's often a section at the end that basically says "send in extra stuff if you think it will help us make a decision."

I was wondering--are these really important?

I would like to record a CD of my singing, but I don't know how much time/effort to put into it. If nobody's going to care, I'm just going to do a few songs, but if it will really help me I'd like to make it good.

Thanks!

If it's good, it'll help you, if otherwise, then it'll be at most inconsequential.

Only include one if you are a very accomplished singer or if you hope it to be your career.

I'm not going to be a singer, but I did an audition with the Princeton music department. I can't recommend it more! I really think it's one of two things that got me in. If you can, do an on campus audition. They're much more personal and show that you are really interested.

I live in California. Otherwise, I would do an on-campus.
