I’m planning to apply to top colleges in engineering and unsure whether my ACT superscore will increase or decrease my chances of getting accepted.
1st(33): English 30, Math 34, Reading 33, Science 36
2nd(31): English 33, Math 28, Reading 31, Science 31
Superscore: 34
Most of my subject scores decreased on my second test and I need to decide whether I should let colleges see those with my superscore.
Which top engineering schools specifically? MIT, Stanford and GATech? Or, Wisconsin, VATech, and TX A&M?
How is your course rigor? How did you do on AP exams?
MIT, Stanford, Yale, Harvard, U Penn, and Berkeley + my safety schools.
I’ve completed 6 APs all with 4’s, near straight A’s, and I’m taking classes for the IB Diploma.
I didn’t realize that they would see ALL the scores if you sent the superscore. I guess I need to look into that.
But I wanted to comment that I find your scores interesting. My daughter’s math score dropped a decent amount as well. I thought it was odd, but I see that you did the same thing. Her science stayed the same (if I remember correctly) and that was one of the areas that she studied because it was the one that had the most room for improvement. Makes you wonder since it seems that those two categories were more challenging for you this time around as well.
I’d just submit your first score if your focus is engineering.

UC Berkeley is test blind for this admission cycle and never super scores so moot for that school at least.

Not every school superscores so be aware of which do and don’t…depends on the school, but for those that do, if you are proud of it, send it in. Yes, it might be a tad below top schools - but it’s within range and it shows you can do well.

Many schools allow you to self-report your test scores….check the websites of each of your schools. Save money and only send scores to the school where you ultimately enroll.
When you self report you enter your highest composite score and each of your highest section scores…the schools which superscore will calculate your superscore from your app.
