I read some Cornell website saying that applicants should send in their AP score reports so their credit evaluations will be complete when the decisions are finalized. I can’t find the page anymore though. I’m also appling to UPenn and JHU. Do these schools want official AP/IB score reports from just transfers or freshmen as well?
I’m applying to transfer, but seeing as how there are fewer transfers on CC, I’d like to hear from freshmen applicants as well so I can look in the right direction.
All my scores are on my transcripts and I couldn’t fit all of my AP tests on the self-report for Common App (took 13, not 10).
Contact the schools directly and ask.
Send your scores to the school that you will be attending. Sending to all schools is just a waste of money. AP scores carry little to no weight in the admissions process and is really used for credit and/or placement.
You can use the additional comments to list your 3 additional scores if you are so inclined, but it is really not necessary.
Once you actually pick the college you plan on going to, then you send official scores
Most of your high rtanked colleges will consider AP scores as one factor along with everything else for admission, although they have less weight than any other test scores. You can send self-reported AP scores, either in the app, an essay or send a copy of your scores to the admission office, so you do not need to incur the expense of sending them before being admitted. Cornell suggests you send official reports early but that is not necessary for the purposes of being admitted. The exception is the few colleges, such as NYU, which allow you to submit three AP scores in lieu of sending any other test scores, SAT, ACT, and subject tests, and you need to send the offical scores if you choose that option. After you are admitted, you need to submit offical scores to get college credits and if you cannot find how to do that on the college’s site, contact the coillege.
