I plan to apply to Stanford early action. Because the school recommends but doesn't require subject tests, I'm not sure whether to send my scores. I've taken 2 tests so far - lit (740) and math II (730). (I plan to take Spanish and retake lit in October, as I know I can do better.)

This is somewhat of a "what are my chances?" question, but I'd also like clarification about Stanford's expectations re: subject tests (and the weight placed on them.)

(If it makes any difference - I've taken the SAT itself 2x. My higher score is 2270. My superscore is 2300.)

Your scores are fine…Stanford truly looks beyond your scores and GPA once you are within their acceptable “range”…it will be your outside accomplishments, recommendations, and essays that will really “matter”…whether you get in or not.

On the same line of reasoning (Stanford looking beyond stats), will a very unusual candidate with an outstanding commitment to a unique humanitarian project the student founded (4+ years involvement and lots of hours) coupled with 5 languages and very good IB grades, have a fair chance if the ACT score is only a 29-30 and SATs in foreign languages 780-800? (U.S./European nationality). Thanks!
