Should I stay or Should I go

I go to a large commuter school out of state. The campus life here is not the best. Dorms are extremely quiet and many students that live on campus are also from the area and go home on weekends. The school is part of a large sports conference and because of that sports are EVERYTHING here, specifically football which I do not care for. I have one of the best CCs in the nation near where I come from and am looking to transfer and even though I am committed to transfer I sometimes have second thoughts. These thoughts are not that I would have fun or enjoy it here but if it is the right choice. I have made friends here but almost all of them are commuters so I can’t really see them outside of class. I am not sure if my current major is one I want to stay with (a common issue with freshman). Money also is a factor. If I play my cards right and go to a community college and transfer to a 4 year I can get away with no debt, however if I stay here I can only really afford 2 1/2 years. Am I making the right choice?

2.5 years of a college degree is not worth much.

You are making the right choice if you leave to attend CC.

Seems like this factor basically means that the right choice if you want to be able to complete a bachelor’s degree is transferring to the community college instead of staying at the eventually unaffordable school you are at now.

If you can only afford to attend for 2-1/2 years, what are your plans for when you’ll have to drop out? You’ll have too many credits to be able to attend community college and it doesn’t sound like you’ll be able to pay for a 4-year. The jobs you can get with a high school diploma don’t pay much.

If you want a college degree you don’t have much choice. Withdraw after this semester and go to the cc near your home.

I assure you, YES you are making the right choice. If you can only afford 2.5 years at your current university, it’s clear you can’t afford it. Community college is safest bet for anyone who has less money for college, and being debt free (rare nowadays) puts you at a huge financial advantage.

Honestly, the reason kids go to these big glamorous universities is because they have mom and dad paying for everything, or they’re up to their eyeballs in debt. If they were as smart as they claim, they would be in community college too.

Should I transfer?
