Hello!
I am an RD applicant to Dartmouth College. I was recently deferred from Brown University :(. I had a very strong application, but my test scores were quite low, especially my subject tests. I was hoping that the other, much stronger parts of my application would make up for it (you know holistic admissions and all), but apparently not. I strongly believe that I was deferred due to my SAT subject test scores. My regular SAT score was a 1420 (700M, 720CR, 24 Essay), which is nothing amazing but there are of course people who are admitted with these scores. My two SAT subject tests were Literature (670), and Bio-M (650). These scores really depress me because I was very sick the day that I took these tests–they do not reflect my knowledge at all. I got a 4 on my AP Bio exam and a 5 on my AP Lang exam. My grades in Honors & AP English classes are consistently 97+ and my final grade in Honors Bio was a 95 while my final grade in AP Bio was a 98.
My deferral from Brown absolutely destroyed any hope that I have for myself. I know that admissions is holistic, but what would hurt me more–submitting these scores, or omitting them?
I was accepted with a 710 in Literature and 680 in Math I, which are pretty low scores. I think they may have been offset a bit by a 35 ACT, but I would consider not sending them if I were in your shoes.
I have exactly the same question with exactly the same scores lol. Have a 790 math 2, and a 650 phsyics, although i’m doing pretty well in A/AS level physics…idk what went wrong that day. should i also just send math 2, or both, or neither? i’ve asked a few of my friends and they’re pretty split on both or just math 2…
Dartmouth, as many of its peer institutes highly recommend sending 2 subject tests. I’ve taken 2 total, with the break down being: Math 2- 790 Literature- 650. That literature is rough, but it doesn’t properly reflect my ability in Lit- I received a 5 on AP Lang. Should I just send the math 2? or both? or neither? Thanks for the help!
@coloradoMUN@3littlebirds@sciencenerd123 You should send the scores. Again, they’re highly recommended, and not sending anything will look worse than high-600s.
