Should I submit subpar SAT Subject Test scores?

Hey guys,

I’m an International student currently applying Regular Action to a number of US colleges. I have a 1470 SAT (710 Math, 760 R&W), but have relatively low Subject Test scores (680 Math Level II, 650 Physics). I’ve got a pretty strong application, extracurriculars, recommendations and all that, but I was wondering if I’d be better off not sending in my Subject Test scores to schools where they’re recommended, but not required (like Princeton, Harvard and Stanford)?

The odds of admission as an International student are already crazily low, so I’d like to avoid anything that hurts my application at all. My Subject Test scores are the weakest part of my application, and even though I come from a non-international Irish school and was at a severe disadvantage while preparing for the tests (much of the material isn’t covered on the Irish course) I don’t think this will earn me much sympathy given how competitive the International applicant pool is.

Thanks so much for reading, and I’d welcome any input.

Those schools “strongly recommend” subject test scores, so you should probably send them. Otherwise they may think you didn’t even attempt them. They will know that you’re capable, considering the rest of your application. I don’t think they will make or break your chances, so don’t stress about it. Your actual sat is much more important and you did great on that test.
But if I were you I’d do a little bit of research on this website to see how other people did with similar scores, and then decide accordingly.
Good Luck!!!
