I’m really disappointed with my ap scores, and I am wondering if I should even send them in to my colleges, which are rather selective such as NYU, Northwestern, and maybe an ivy as a reach as well. (I have targets / safeties as well).
I have taken 5 ap tests, in which I got a 2, three 3s, and a 5. I want to just submit the 5 but it would look sketchy if I just give one AP score. I got a 3 for the test for the subject I’m going into (ap lang, since I’m going into writing), so I’m assuming that will look terrible on my application. I don’t know what to do.
Should I just submit them all anyways or submit none? Thank you.
If your colleges don’t give credit for your AP scores, then there is no reason to send them. However, if you get credit for even one class, it is definitely worth it to send the scores. Your safeties may give credit for scores as low as 3. Below are some links to help you get started:
Thank you for the links! Do you know of anyone who didn’t send in their ap scores despite having taken multiple ap classes? I’m just really worried they’ll assume I failed it if I don’t send them all in.
This isn’t about whether the school accepts AP credit, it’s about the application and whether the scores will aid your application for admission. You self-report these now, and then you can send them when you decide where you will attend. Where are you applying?
If your AP scores are not indicative of your grades in these subjects and/or your SAT/ACT, don’t send them (except the 5). You can always update your APs after admittance if you are simply looking to place out of a course or two. Highest ranked schools only take 5s and there is a strict limit on how many 5s you will get credit for. For admittance, low AP scores certainly aren’t going to help (so, don’t send those); but, they are only a tiny piece in the mosaic that is you as an applicant.
