Hey im grade 11 and i just did my first SAT(with studying) i got 2130 CR640 math800 Writing690 thats a bit low i am aiming for 2280+ (act 34+) so my question is should i switch to studying for act because i absolutely HATE memorizing vocab and im really good at math&science so maybe ACT would be easier for me?

I am the same way. I detest the SAT and found that I quickly lost my focus going through 10 sections! The math on the ACT is a little harder but more straightforward than the SAT and the science is basically reading and analyzing capability. So, why not try it out? It was definitely easier for me.

Try them both, but your score is very good.

Getting 2130 on your first SAT practice is very good and you can improve it. Your CR is low probably because of Vocab so it can be improved.
As Erin’s dad suggested, take practice tests for both of them. Prepare for both one week for each and take a practice test each and see not only your scores but also what gives you the most opportunity to improve. Generally speaking in CR, long passage based questions are hardest to improve and vocab easiest (easy being a relative term here).

Yes, some students actually prefer the ACT over the SAT. You are just starting your junior year so you have enough time. Why not take the ACT in the early spring? Retake the SAT around the same time and I bet you will see a difference in your SAT scores. Will you also be taking SAT IIs?

I spent thousands of dollars prepping for SAT, only to break a 2000 SAT. I self-studied ACT and got a 35. Some students are just more inclined towards one over the other. Good luck.

I’ve taken both, and I was better with the ACT. If you’re fast at working and writing, go ACT. Warning, the science section is not real science, as it’s only interpreting graphs and comparing scientific articles.

Some students prefer the ACT over the SAT. Some only take the ACT.
Try them both and go with your best test.
