Should I take 2 SAT 2 for..

Okay let me explain this clearly.

I'm not really interested into applying for all ivy leagues/top tier schools, except for one. And it's columbia university. It asks for 2 SAT subjects test, which I think I'll do pretty good.

But you know, IT'S COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, meaning who knows if I can even get accepted with the 7% acceptance rate! I was just wondering if I should even take the 2 subject tests? I mean I only want to apply to one school to needs these tests. Usually people who take these subject tests apply to many schools which all require these subject tests. I think it's a big gamble. If that makes any sense.

Should I:

A) Take the 2 tests, and hope I can get into columbia
B) Don't take the 2 tests, and stick to state schools

Do you have a couple of subjects where you expect you can do well on the subject tests with minimal additional studying? (For example, if you take AP bio, you may be able to do quite well on the bio subject test if you also take it in May or June right after you studied for the AP exam, without more studying for the subject test. Of course that strategy only works if you are a junior or below right now.)

If you got into Columbia, could you afford to attend?

Pros of taking the tests:
you can apply to Columbia
if you add another school to your list at the last minute that requires them, you’re set

Cons:
cost
study time

It’s really up to you whether the cost and study time (if needed) are worth it for the shot at getting into Columbia. How much do you love Columbia? If you got in, could you afford to attend?

take them, and it depend on the rest of your app. but you should also take them for the pure self satisfaction of knowing that you are an intellectaul scholar who has mastered two of the countless subj. in the world=)

Will for myself, I would be taking 2 SAT Subject exams partially the college require the exam. Likewise, I want to take 2 SAT Subject exams because it’s a enriching experience. For you do what you please but it requires massive studying time as what was stated on the forum.

Be aware that Columbia now accepts the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT subject tests. So if you have an ACT test score to send you could choose to just send it when you apply

Exactly, the cost also includes with the gamble. I don’t even know if I can afford it.

And sadly I really don’t want to take the ACT because I’m pretty much focused on the SAT. Though… I should probably take the ACT one day. But idk, I might switch schools… So maybe they need subject tests too…

Kimmy, are you a senior?
