I posted this to another category but I thought I might get more traffic here, and would like someadvice. I’m at a four year university and taking a leave for the upcoming spring semester. I’m going to be a econ major and I have not taken Calculus yet and I hope to take it next fall. But in high school, the highest math that I have taken after algebra 2 is statistics (AP) and do not have any pre-calc background. There is no pre-req for the Calc class at my university but in order to register, I need to take a pre-calc assessment and score over a certain points, so during the leave I was planning on studying for pre-calc. But I was not sure if I should take a pre-calc course at my local community college or just study on my own using resources like Khan Academy. I am not that great at math, and my score for the math section on the SAT was like a 690 but in high school I always got As in math and if I’m taught well and do practice, I do pretty well. CC is cheap but I still have to pay so I’d rather save money and study on my own but I’m scared of getting stuck on something with no help. Any thoughts?
Most students should take the course.
If you want, you can try this quiz to see what you do and do not know of the topics needed for calculus:
