Should I take a high school class just so I can get a good reccomendation?

Senior year, I am wondering if i should take a course that is offered as a History credit (it deals with various Wars in American History)

The reasons I may want to take this are because it is offered by a teacher who I get along with very well and is a great (award winning) teacher, who would give me a good recommendation. I had him freshman year and participate in a club by him. It is also an Honors course (so at my school i get 4.5 instead of 4.0). I am pretty interested in this course, but don't think it is a credit colleges want to see.

The courses that I may take in place of it would be:
-AP Statistics
-Honors Spanish IV
-Honors PreLaw/Honors Java Programming

Don’t take it if it is going to mess up your credits.

Colleges want to see that you took the hardest schedule you could.

If you are genuinely interested in the course, then by all means, take it! If not, I would not recommend you taking the course just for a good recommendation. Certainly you have other teachers with whom you have taken courses that will give you a good rec.
