Should I Take a Semester Off My Major?

I'm currently looking to sign up for Spring Classes at my CCC and my major, Anthropology, classes aren't offered on the same days as the rest of my other classes.

I've dont most 3 Anthro classes and the other 2 avaliable are on Mon+Wed, not Tues+Thurs where all my Spring classes take place.

This wouldn't be a problem if I lived close to the college but since I live 20 miles away in gridlock traffic, heading out there everyday would be a hassle.

How would it look like if I take the following semester without any Anthro classes?

(In turn i'd be taking 2 Radio classes as it's always been a secret passion of mine and am finally signing up for my 1st 2 classes in that field) (Along with a required math class and throwing in a 1 unit biology course for the hell of it)

i'm assuming your looking to transfer?

if youre at a cc, make sure you're taking 15+ credits a semester...taking anything less from a cc will not look like the most rigorous course load out there

i would advise against taking two "radio" classes this semester...more than the fact that those credits will likely be unable to be transferred, most universities, i think, will not look at an individual who takes two classes in radio than somebody who takes calculus and physics

i would say that it may be better to take at least one course in your major this semester, although i do not think it would necessarilly be crippling to your app...it may make you look like you do not have a true vision of what you wish to pursue at a potential transfer college and beyond

gl

15 units, really? Does it matter that i'm only like 5 units away from reaching 60 units?

I mean, c'mon. no?

i hear what you're saying though about continuing with anthro classes.

if i switch to mon+wed classes then i can take a wanted anthro class, but would have to sign up for the same math class with a different professor. a professor in fact i attempted to take the same class with over the summer but was too tough.

yes, less than 15 credits from a cc will likely be viewed as a very light courseload and will certainly not distinguish yourself in a positive manner..always important to distinguish yourself if your moving up from a cc

again, i would recommend that you take an anthro class this semester but i do not think that it will make or break your app...up to you to weigh the pros and cons accordingly

awesome, thanks

my classes at the time of writing this thread were my math class and intro to radio, along with a 1 unit biology class.

But i've since changed it up to mon+wed classes relating: anthro 203, photography, math and anthro 110. And the 1 unit biology class totaling 13 units as opposed the 7 units from earlier.

i may add another class, depending.
