I want to major in engineering having been looking at low admissions rate schools. Harvey Mudd and MIT stand out.
I got a 35 on the ACT, and 800s on both Math Level 2 and Physics.
I’m signed up to take a subject test tomorrow but I haven’t studied what so ever. I took AP bio this year but don’t really know a lot of super detailed specifics more high level stuff like the AP likes. My other thought was to take the literature one.
Should I take it anyway? Is there a chance it will hurt me? Could it actually even help
There’s zero reason to take a third subject test. Piling up more and more tests is not the least bit helpful and could hurt you by conveying that you are all about “the grind.”
The only school I know of that requires three subject tests is Georgetown. It does not have an engineering school.
Unless you are applying to Georgetown, no.
If you were confident in a high score it would make more sense. My kid got into Mudd with 800s on Math II and Lit. I suspect that 800s on widely divergent subjects did help her. But you are sitting on two 800s now and haven’t prepped, so I’d skip it.
