Which subject tests should I take?

I took the SAT today and I’m ready to register for subject tests in May. I’m not sure which to take between Lit, Math 2, US History, and Physics. I have around an 89% in AP Physics, 98% in Algebra 2 & 96% in Precalc, 95% in APUSH, and 96% in AP Lang and usually around a 42/52 on AP Lang practice AP exams. If I plan on taking 2 in May and register for an extra in the fall (in case I’m deferred at a school that requires 3), which would be best given my grades? I think the difficultly of my classes and tests are pretty consistent with AP exams.

Do you know what you are planning to major in and/or what schools you are looking at when considering taking subject tests? We know that MIT and Harvey Mudd would “require” the Math II in addition to at least another science-related subject test. If you are STEM-leaning, Math II and physics would be good choices.

I plan on majoring in sustainability, enviornmental science or enviornmental studies and I also have interest in political science. None of the subject tests really match with these and I don’t plan on applying to any extremely STEM focused schools. My top schools are Duke, Georgetown, and Emory.

M2 is an obvious choice; it should require little prep beyond what you’re already doing in pre-calc - maybe a quick review of geometry.

AP Physics covers much less material than is tested on the Subject Test, so there are a lot of gaps to fill in on your own. Take a practice test for physics lit,and USH to see what you score, and then concentrate on improving those 2, since you’ll need 3 Subject Tests for Georgetown.

Then I would choose three (since you are looking at Georgetown) that you are best prepared for. My DS has taken Math II, US history, and I know these two are relatively easy to prep for (history subject test focuses a lot more on details - ie memorization of some obscure information - than APUsH exam). Good luck.
