I am planning to apply to Vassar early decision. However, my GPA is low… (3.66 UW) and unfortunately, my newest ACT score in September was 29 composite score. Vassar do superscore ACT, so I will have 30 superscored. Vassar’s Class Profile of 2019 had mean ACT of 31.3 and median ACT of 32. So… if I score a point or two higher after studying ACT again in my senior year, would this hassle be worth it in admission? Should I take ACT again?
Definitely not. May be time to wing the SAT if the scores will come in on time for ED. But seriously, it’s not going to help unless you jump to like a 36, and even then, it’ll get averaged in. You’re close enough; work on your essays.
I already have below the average acceptance GPA for Vassar, so wouldn’t few more points on ACT help to average in more? Or… would spending that time on essay help more?
Focus on the essays. If you’ve taken the ACT 7 times, taking it another time isn’t going to make a difference. You can’t do much about your GPA either. Remember, there are always people with lower scores than the average who get accepted, and being a point or two away is fine.
You can take the ACT up to 12 times.
I would take it again, ONLY if you can study for it.
You control your scores, so Vassar will only know the scores that you send them.
A 33 ACT would help balance out your GPA.
Seven times?? No, do not take it again.
If you did not reach your target score after the 3rd attempt, you are not likely to get significant improvement afterward. Unless you did something very different this time and spent a lot of time in practicing.
I thought you were only allowed to take the ACT six times.
I did improved from 23 ACT composite first time. I was getting 32-34 on practice ACT. Could this be just a bad luck? If I study harder for a week or so, could I improve my score?
