My composite score was a 29. Should I retake to have better chances at the schools on this (tentative) list, especially Vassar?

Vassar (absolute first choice)
Bowdoin (I know, they don't require scores)
Skidmore
Boston College
University of Puget Sound
Willamette
Brandeis
Whitman

Any other school suggestions would be good....I just need to know before the registration deadline! Thanks in advance!

Um... how's the rest of you looking? If the score won't keep you out, you don't hafta retake it...

Pretty good, I guess - about a 4.2 weighted GPA last semester, student body prez, senior class VP, sophomore class prez, 2-3 varsity sports, several academic awards, youth and government, lots of community service, some published poems (one contest win) and some other random things. My SAT IIs are pretty bad: U.S.H - 630, WH - 630, Bio - 550 (taken as freshman - that's my justification) and my SAT I was a 2040: 680 CR, 560 M, 800 W. Does this help at all?

One more thing - I got a 4 on the AP test for U.S.H. That's the only AP I've taken, but I took a few other honors courses and got As.

I don't really know how admissions is for those colleges, but I think I'd go with taking the ACT again in September, if money and stuff isn't a problem. It never hurts to have another score, and if it's really good you won't have to report your SAT..

I got a 29 in high school like you, and to be honest, I don't think it's an incredibly impressive score or anything, but not horrible either. I agree with what's been said - retake if you have time and shoot for 31+ for Vassar. Good luck!
