Since none of us knows WTH AP. Calculus Competition is, 2 pieces of advice.
1/ Ask your math teacher
2/ Wait until you’re in 10th grade and actually have to make the selection.
It is AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus AB Competition, AP Calculus BC, AP Calculus BC Competition. These are the 4 AP levels. The ones with the competition name after it has math competition problems.
AP Calculus AB Competition is basically AP Calculus AB but it has Calculus math competition problems in it.
From your many individual threads asking about one class at a time, I infer you are a couple months into 9th grade. If so, there an urgent need to decide your 11th grade math class today?
See how you do in the next year/year and a half until it’s time to register for Junior year classes, then consult with your teacher(s) and counselor who will better know your abilities.
The generic advice is to take the most rigorous course in which you will succeed.
I’ll be curious to hear what Calculus math competition problems are included, as AMC/AIME/MOP/IMO do not include Calculus as a topic.
No high school level math competition (all the way up to IMO) involves calculus at all, so these “competition” courses are most likely inappropriately named by (and unique to) your school. My guess is that their homework assignments are somewhat harder than the “regular” versions.
As a student two grade levels ahead in math and in the hardest math courses so far, you will probably be best placed in the hardest option (presumably BC with competition problems, whatever those may be). But you should not have to make the final decision until you have been in precalculus competition for a while and know how well you are doing in that course.
I hope you are spending time enjoying being a 9th grader and not just super focused on what is down the road. In writing it is hard to know if these are just quick thoughts on what to do for classes or if you are spending tons of time on it.
