Should I take AP Physics B without having any prior Physics class?

I was intending on taking a first year physics class as a senior in HS since my schedule didn't allow me to take it earlier (stupid mandatory classes) and I thought some physics was necessary before college.

However, the district's science coordinator made a HUGE mistake while coming up with the course selections: She thought the AP Physics program was going through the redesigning starting the 2013-2014 school year. So, my school offered AP Physics 1 as 1st year physics and was going to offer AP Physics 2 the next year as second-year physics. I signed up for this AP Physics 1 class.

I looked online for some more info on the AP Physics redesigning and found out that AP Physics 1 and 2 were going to start the 2014-2015 year. So, I pointed it out to the coordinator and she admitted she made a mistake.

So, there is still going to be an "AP Physics 1" class for 1st-year physics students. But, we will have to take the AP Physics B exam because AP will not be administering the AP Physics 1 Exam.

I feel like I'll do great within the class as its structured for 1st-year AP students, but I might not pass the AP Physics B Exam, given its one of the hardest exams AP has...

Should I go ahead and try out this new class?

Take it. I did, and I got an A in the class.

The AP Exam on the other hand… I think I might have gotten a 3.

I know I’ll do fine in the class, it’s just that knowing that I’m probably not going to do well on the AP Exam bugs me…

bump bump bump!

Physics B is definitely not one of the hardest. My senior friend did Physics C in his junior year and he came out with a 5 on mechanics and a 4 in EM, and believe me, he is no extraordinary genius. I too am doing this. Just study and do an extra problem set and you will be fine.
