I am going to be a 12th grader and I have a weighted cumulative GPA of a 3.5. I have taken advanced and honors classes in previous years but no APs. Yes, I’m well aware that this is not the ideal gpa to get into a UC school. Although, I got a 1340 on the SAT and have 2 aps lined up for me. The AP classes are AP Psych and AP stats. I opted out of AP calc and switched it with AP stats because I didn’t think it was necessary to get into a UC school. But now I am thinking that that was a bad decision and that I probably should take ap calc in order to have a shot at getting into a UC school. Should I also consider taking other APs like ap physics and ap environmental science to get into a UC? Do I have a shot at getting into any of the UCs or is my 3.5 gpa a deal breaker at this point? There are 6 periods at my school. I have 6th period off too. Is that bad? Please help.
Have you taken Physics before? What level of math have you completed junior year? This will affect whether you should take physics or APES. And yes you should be taking a class in that 6th period.
With a weighted 3.5 GPA, you should aim for ucm, ucr, perhaps UCSC as a reach.
