Should i take APUSH?

Im currently in year 11 (10th grade) and attend a british school. Due to my selection of subjects i wasnt able to do IGCSE History for 9th/10th grade (But i got straight A’s through out middle school). For my junior and senior years i’ll be moving to the american school. I’ll need to take APUSH or U.S History to graduate. Do you think it’ll be a bad idea to take APUSH in this case?

-Another thing is, U.S History/APUSH and AP Comparative Government all are in the same Block. Would it be a bad idea if i don’t take APUSH my junior year, to take AP Comparative Goverment instead of U.S History cz i’d be a lot more interested in it? I’d then need to take U.S History my senior year which i think is better.

(The other AP’s i plan to take for 11th grade are: Psychology, Economics and Biology.

12th grade: AP Calculus AB or BC, English Language, AP Chemistry,AP Statistics)

I think i should mention that i’d like to apply to colleges in the US and my intended major would be economics or accounting & finance.

So,what do you guys think?

take whichever class you are more interested in! You wouldn’t want to put that much time and effort into something you aren’t interested in.

From what I heard from people who have taken APUSH, it was not worth their time. They felt they could have put their efforts else where. I think you should take Honors US History and enroll in a more interesting AP that interests you. Good luck!

Do you have a chance to find out what the teacher is like? If you do, try it and see what happens. However, APUSH is a fairly hard class for kids who have been learning US History since they were children. Unless you learn loads of US History when you were in British school, you may find it more difficult. It’s your choice, but you probably have plenty of APs already. Keep in mind, often you can take the class for a week and then decide if you like it, at least you can in my high school. Basically, see if you can handle the workload.
