Should I take Calc BC and AP Stat senior year?

If you’re okay “retaking” Calc 1 in college, 1 or 3 depending on how time intensive the two AP science classes are and your time management skills.
If you want to skip calc 1 in college and need to take calc 2 in college for your major, option 2.

@MYOS1634: I forgot to mention this little tidbit of info (I’ve done that so many times haha, I am so sorry), but I took PreCalc freshman year. I got a ow B in the class (86) and my teacher decided I wasn’t ready for AB, and no amount of asking for her signature on my schedule would change her stance on the matter. So, I took Honors Calc my sophomore year. I got almost a 100 in the class, and a near perfect on the final exam. The slower pace helped me loads. The math in calc wasn’t hard: the pace was what was killing me. So I am now taking AB as a junior, after taking, for all intents and purposes, a gap year in between my freshman and junior years. The faster pace is already taking its toll again, just as it was in PreCal, even though I learned most of the material in Honors Calc.

Therefore, my issue with not taking BC next year is that if I don’t take BC, and I end up having to take Calc I in college, it’ll be me in a class that I’ve already essentially taken twice. I’m not down for taking the same class 3 times. So I might just bite the bullet and trudge through BC.

Well, if you’re in a major that doesn’t require more than Calc 1 and you score 4 or 5 on the AB exam, you should be good - no need to retake calc1 or 2.
(for reference, AB= calc 1, BC= Calc 2, BUT if you need to use them in a further math class, like calc 3, you’re better off “retaking” the college version of the class, unless you were really really good.)
College math will go much faster than AB - AB takes place over nine months, five periods a week. Calc 1 (the college equivalent), takes place over 4 months, 3 periods a week. That gives you an idea of how much is covered in just one college period, and how much you have to work on your own.

@mohammadmohd18 yea I wouldn’t want to take what is essentially the same class 3 times either. I’d say take BC next year, and in the meantime, figure out how to adjust your studying for faster paced classes. You’ll need that in college.

Haha yes that’s my achilles heel. We’ll see how it works out. @snowfairy137

I see your point, @MYOS1634. But, I don’t really know what I want my major to be; I have to decide on my schedule for next year long before I take the AP exam for AB; and no matter how short the college calc class might be, it’s still just a waste of a semester, honestly.
