I took AP calc my senior year and I'm deciding whether or not to take it again over the summer at a community college or at Michigan State University in the fall. If I were to take it at a community college over the summer I would jump to Calc II at MSU in the fall. I will be pursuing an engineering degree so I would go up to Calc III or maybe Calc IV.

Will I be ready for Calc II if I have a year of calc from a high school level and a semester at a community college?

Generally, you should take Calc 1 at the engineering school you will be attending. Most of the kids in class will have also taken high school Calc, so the competition will be brisk and you will be prepared for Calc 2. Calc 3 is usually considered the most difficult, so you want to be fully prepared for that.

I’ve heard Calc 3 is usually generally easier? Ive heard its more of a scheme as universities say you want to do all your calc at your choice of school so they don’t lose money. I don’t know what to do…
