Here are my previous test scores, and I'd like some input, if you don't mind, on how I should take advantage of the last 3 months to take sat's before college apps are due (jan 1)

April 1, SAT I - 630 CR 640 W 660 M
June 6, SAT II, Biology M - 680

I need to take the Chemistry SAT II, Math 2c SAT II, and SAT I.
Possible Test Dates - Oct.14, Nov.4, Dec.2

I really was hoping for 700+ in biology...and I'm definitely giving the SAT I another shot. I'm good in math so I hope I can get 750+ on the math 2c and 700+ on chemistry. I could re-review for biology, but it's probably not worth it at this point, especially if i did better on another science SAT II.

The thing is, I haven't reviewed for the SAT IIs at all (yet), just been "sorta studying" for SAT I . . . the plan was to take the SAT I and the two SAT IIs in November/December, but then I realized I may have to retake the SAT IIs, but apps would be due.

So, QUESTION - should i try an sat II or two in October, and retake if necessary? Is it frowned upon to retake SAT IIs? Or just make sure I study well and take the two sat IIs once and for all? Could someone take an SAT I/II on Jan.27th and still send the report to college, like an extra material submission thing? would this be useful?

I would just take the SAT II once. It will force you to hold yourself accountable and prepare well. If you take it twice you prabably won't put much effort into it the first time and might do bad on it. If I were you I would really focus on pulling up the SAT I score because it tends to count for more. "sorta studying" will not make much difference in your score. If you want to really improve, you need to get all of your study aids organized and commit to doing at least one practice section a day beginning as soon as possible.

On the April test, my scores were 610 CR, 670 M, 650 W

And then I took the SAT II in June but totally froze during the test! I went straight home and cancelled my scores!

And now I'm really stressed because I have so much to study for. I am retaking the SAT I for the third time in October and plan to take II (Math II, Bio, Chem) in November.

My reasoning for that is that II will take a while to study for so that will give me some extra time. Right now my main focus is SAT I. If the IIs don't go so well in November, there's always the December one which means that the material will still be somewhat fresh on your mind.

My suggestion is ask the college(s) you want to apply to what is the latest SAT test you could take and have the scores mailed directly to them.

Heh, how coincidental, Hope02. Same exact score. Good luck to you too! I wasn't really hoping on the Jan 27th date, just wondered if people could do that. You really shouldn't stress though, stress is bad. It doesn't always allow you to succeed to your full potential.

Weasel8488, good advice. Time to buckle down. Actually while I'm typing this, I'm staring at the huge sat books piled next to the printer. oh dear. 1 section a day is reasonable, I'll try it. Do you recommend SAT I in November, SAT IIs in December, or vice versa?

My son and my niece both thought Math II was really hard. Most on this board think it is easy to do well. Niece had taken college calculus at Ursinus as a hs junior and got a 530 on Math II. There are a lot of factors that come into play- like how long ago you had some of the math and how much you review. S got a 740 on Math I and 680 on II. Just don't be fooled into thinking it is an easy 750. It isn't for everyone.

Oh, I know that. I'm not very good at lower math, ironically, like sat I type math (logical questions?)...I really liked pre-calculus and decided to go ahead and work with calculus bc this year, did calculus ab this summer with an online program and it was great.

I actually wanted to see if I should take math 1 or 2, and took a practice test in both (barrons), and did significantly better with 2c, with 7 something, but that was a while ago, still need to prepare, I know.

If you are afraid you will get burned out studying, then you might take SAT I in November to get it over with. I think each SAT II can be adequately prepped for in a week with good practice, so I think you can safely study just SAT I until after the November test date and then start preparing for your subject tests.

I really cannot fathom how people get less than 750 on Math2C. It's easier to get an 800 on Math2c than SAT I math because of the curve. I know only one person who didn't get 800; they got a 790 and we all LOL'd. The sad thing is that many of these people are in AP Calculus and yet they can't do mid-level algebra and trig.
