should I take my car to UT next year (for transfer student living on west campus)?

I will be a transfer student(starting as sophomore) and I will be living at The Quarters (Grayson House). My rent is decent but they want to charge me $85/month for parking. Do you'll think it will be worth it to take my car for first year? I think with that $85 extra it's a little bit off of my budget. And my home is about 1 hour from austin so maybe my parents can pick me up when i want to go home on weekends. And my roommates will have their cars but I just don't want to be bothering them all the time about rides and stuff. Will I need a car or can I rely on bus and bicycle for a year?
Edit: please help I am signing my lease tomorrow.

You really don’t need a car. Everything that you need is pretty close. You can ride the buses for free with your UT ID card. Save yourself the hassle and expense and do without the car.

does UT provide parking for studnets who are living off campus? I want to be able to park 24/7 because I will only use it to go home or somewhere else for weeksends. I am only willing to do it if it’s <$200/year.

and also where do most UT students that live in dorms park?

Shane22, check on line regarding student parking permits.

UT kids that live in dorms usually don’t have cars. If they do have cars, they pay $500+ a year for garage parking.

You won’t find parking that cheap anywhere, unless you live at a co-op or rent a house with spaces. Almost every complex charges extra for parking.

Cheapest parking I have heard of is $30 a semester at the coop that I’m living at.
