Should I take new SAT?

I am part of the class of 2017, and I just got my December ACT score- 35(36E, 36M, 33R, 36S, 27W). What I am worried about is me relatively low reading and writing scores, so I was wondering if I should take the new SAT to hopefully get a better English score in that. I am also signed up for the January SAT, and debating taking that as well. Thanks in advance!

Excellent ACT score and if Harvard denies you it won’t be because of that. If can’t hurt to take the SAT 1 as Harvard does not require you to submit every exam you take but it seems pointless with a composite ACT score of 35. However, Harvard recommends you take the SAT subject tests. You can take the literature subject test to make up for the reading although with a 33 - 97% there really isn’t much to make up for. The 27 writing might look low but it’s not - that score puts you in 95%.

When you apply just make sure your entire application is as good as your test scores - but with Harvard, as with any IVY, you never know if you will be accepted. It’s a reach for almost anyone.

Thanks so much! Makes a ton of sense but I just still can’t help feeling worried. That’s just my personality I guess, worried about every little detail about college apps.

I know only too well! I have a daughter going through this now. Will you be applying early decision? That might help increase the chances.

I do plan on applying restrictive early action, but I don’t know where yet. I have pros and cons for each one, but I will be visiting them during spring break and hopefully get a better idea then.

Forget Harvard

Can you elaborate? I know that Harvard and all the other Ivys are a longshot for everybody, but that’s not to say I don’t want to try.

^^ Don’t bother with him.

Clarinetdad was being sarcastic.
Nobody seems to care about writing scores. You are already in the range where other factors matter, and unless you are only applying to Harvard, this may not look well to Full-history colleges. This is only MHO, though.
FWIW, my writing score was lower than yours.
