Do I need to take the SAT II Bio Molecular AND Ecology tests?

Background: So I recently took the SAT II Bio M in June and got an 800, and I'm planning on applying to college as a bio major. I have a private college counselor, and he told me to take the Ecology test as well.

Personally, I don't understand his reasoning, because both M and E are basically the same, and since I got an 800, it's not like I can improve. In fact, I've never heard of anybody taking both the M and E (unless that person did poorly on M and wanted to try E, or vice versa).

I'm aiming for the top colleges/ universities, and most of them only require or "recommend" 2-3 subject tests, and I doubt they'd think I'm sane if I took M and E...

Your counselor needs to take a chill pill. Chemistry and Bio M are more than enough science SATs. You need to take Math 2 and maybe some other subjects, but no more science! Find out what his reasoning is – you may be paying him too much! :)

I mean it couldn’t hurt. I was thinking of taking them both next year. I will be going really hard on bio for the olympiad so I hopefully won’t need to prepare much for the bio SAT2 as olympiad material is at a higher level. Thus, it will hopefully add an additional 800 to my profile. You definitely don’t need it at all. If you don’t care about the fee and you will only need minimal time to prepare, I would take it.
