I'm an incoming sophomore and I'm currently taking biology as a freshman. I was wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to take chemistry over the summer. If i were to take it, i would go into AP chem sophomore year, then AP physics and AP biology the following years. If i didn't, then i would take normal chemistry sophomore year and then AP physics and biology the following years.
Essentially the same, but i would take AP chemistry instead of normal chemistry in sophomore year. Would it be work the summer time and effort?

I’m guessing you want to go into the medical and or science field? If you answered yes to this question, then go ahead. It doesn’t really matter when you take those classes, but taking AP Chemistry as a Sophomore has that impressing factor. This kid I know wanted to exercise his impressive factor and is taking AP Calculus AB/BC now, as a Sophomore. I don’t know how long the summer Chemistry course will take, but I’m guessing it’ll be somewhat rushed. I’m a Sophomore now taking Honors Chemistry and have taking Honors Biology last semester, (AP science classes are only for Juniors and Seniors in my school) Chemistry is something that shouldn’t rushed. At my school a semester class is 18 weeks. I’m guessing a summer course is way less, I’m not really sure. If you do take it during the summer you’ll have to work hard and stay on track, or else you’ll get lost. Everything in Chemistry stacks/builds together, like a house. You need to have a solid foundation before you can build up. Here’s a thing me and my teacher came up with: “CHEM-IS-TRY” Get it? Chemistry is sometimes like trial and error. You have to try, to succeed. Good luck.

Only take it if you feel like you can master chemistry well enough to succeed in AP Chem.
