Should I Take the ACT?

Hello CC friends,
I have taken the SAT four times with no luck. My Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score is pretty good (700), but my Math score is not too great (580). I have already submitted my SAT score reports to colleges because they all participate in Score Choice and superscoring. I am applying to some high-caliber schools, so I am worried that my SAT score will be too low. Do you guys recommend that I take the ACT? I only have one more chance to take it (February ACT).

The fact that I can use a calculator during the entire math section is appealing because I am not a particularly strong math student and my biggest issue is running out of time on the SAT due to difficult questions that I cannot use a calculator on. I am pretty good in science and interpreting graphs, but I have heard that there are some physics-related questions. I have zero experience in physics.

What do you guys think? Should I take a chance at the ACT? Can I submit both the SAT and ACT to colleges? Will they consider both? Or am I just worrying too much?

Thank you,
Brainscistudent

I would suggest taking a few practice ACTs under simulated conditions to see if you do better on it than you have done on the SAT. Most schools will let you submit either. If you do take the ACT, take it with writing, as some schools require that.

You will want to do a lot of practice tests, and speed is important for the ACT and that can be improved through practice.

Thank you!

Yes, try both! I actually did better on the ACT than the SAT and will only be sending in my ACT scores.
