Should I take the AP test?

I just finished a Psychology course at my local community college; I was wondering whether I should take the AP test, or if the community college course is enough. I'm pretty confident that I got an A in the course (I don't know my course paper score yet, though; however, the worst possible grade I can receive is a B, and that's if I get a C on the paper).

The only point of doing the AP test then would be to get an AP award, something that has value to colleges, but it depends on how many other APs you’ve taken.

Take a practice test and see if you like your score

The issue would be that the AP test would be about $90, and I believe the OP is asking if there would be any value to spending that amount. OP already has college credit for the equivalent of AP Psych

Or if your prospective college does not give credit for the cc course.

@Apollo11 colleges find it impressive if you get good scores on AP exams, so if you are prepared you should definitely take it

Pretty unlikely that a college wouldn’t take transfer credit but would take AP credit.

The issue is that of efficiency. What else could OP do with $90? OP could self-study an easy AP and add another thing on to their list of achievements instead of being redundant. OP could use funds to buy prep stuff for the SAT or other exams. Thus, the efficiency is called into question, as those alternatives provide a bigger boost to college admissions than this scenario

As far as I know, all the colleges that I’ll apply to (however, this is three years away) accept transfer credit. So that’s not a problem.

@Apollo11 I haven’t taken any AP courses yet (we aren’t allowed to take AP courses at my high school until Junior year because of overcrowding), but I’m planning on taking AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Physics 1, AP Physics C, AP Calc B/C, AP Gov/Econ, and AP English Language. I’m probably going to self-study AP Stats and AP Environmental Science or take community college courses for them.
