Should I take the AP test?

The class is AP chemistry. I’m not doing so well. Last semester i got a B- and that was mainly thanks to homework grades (on tests alone my grade would be around D+). So, I’m sure i am not gonna do well on the AP test. I’m a senior, too. if that changes anything.

Would it look bad to take an AP class and not take the test? Does it look worse to take the test and get a 1 or 2? What are my options here?

If you know like for sure that you’re going to bomb it, then I would say don’t do it. If you want to try it, you can drop the test grade two weeks after taking the test if you felt like you did horrible. Since you’re a senior, the AP scores are not as important since the colleges don’t even see them until later/near the end. However, it does look bad. I would not recommend not taking the test. It’s kind of up to you. I would say a B- in AP Chemistry is still okay considering the rigor of the course. It also depends on how hard the class and teacher are in your school which could explain your low test scores. If you think you could get some help on the chemistry and you understand the majority of it, I would take the test. I guess it doesn’t affect you as much since you’re a senior, but one of the main points of the AP class is to prepare you for the AP exam.
